The City of Checotah is nestled among the intersection of I-40 and US HWY 69 with an approximate population of 3400. Checotah is home to musician Carrie Underwood and numerous steer wrestlers. Checotah is near Lake Eufaula, which was once the largest manmade lake in the nation, with 640 miles of shoreline.
Checotah has three recreation facilities, Bessie Tabor Park, Tracy Scoggins Park and the Checotah Sports Complex. The Checotah Sports complex is home to the City’s little league sports, walking trail, splash pad, and disc golf.
Checotah is home to many antique malls, a Civil War battle site and a downtown historic district, as well as the Katy Depot, and the Heartland Heritage Museum.
